David E. Schwenk, 75, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, April 10, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
His loving wife is Patricia (Holup) Schwenk. David and Patricia would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 22nd.
Born on June 11, 1942, in Scranton, David was the son of the late Anthony and Della (Keller) Schwenk.
Raised in Scranton, David was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School.
Prior to his retirement, David worked as a self-employed contractor, and was employed for 33 years by Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation, Scranton.
David was known to be a skilled handyman who especially enjoyed woodworking. He also took great enjoyment in painting murals. Above all, his greatest enjoyment in life was being surrounded by his beloved family. Although his presence will be deeply missed, he will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, Anthony and Della Schwenk, David was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Schwenk, and his sister, June Schwenk.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, David is survived by his four children, Deborah Hall and her husband, Ellis, Wilkes-Barre; Tricia Besermin, Plymouth; David A. Schwenk and his wife, Rose, Marion, North Carolina; and Linda Shillingburg and her husband, Sam, Hunlock Creek; his nine grandchildren, Mitchell and Paige Hall; Timothy (Amanda) Besermin; Gregory Besermin; Kathleena (Gerald) Gerrity; Alysa and Marissa Schwenk; and Colby and Hunter Shillingburg; his great-grandson, Logan Besermin; his brother, John Schwenk, Gouldsboro; his sister, Ellen Schwenk, Scranton; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 11:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, Pastor, officiating.
Family and Friends may call on Saturday morning, April 14, 2018, from 9:45 to 10:45 AM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville.
