David Belton, 61, a resident of Swoyersville PA, passed into eternal life on Thursday morning, November 04, 2021, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
His beloved wife was the late Wenche E. Patricio-Belton, who passed away on March 17, 2015. Together, David and Wenche shared 23 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on December 28, 1959, in Paterson, New Jersey, David was the son of the late Fred and Viola (Thomas) Belton.
Raised in Newark, New Jersey, he graduated from high school there, and he went on to attend a culinary arts program, obtaining his degree in culinary arts.
Prior to his retirement in 2017, David was employed on the Keystone Pipeline. Prior to that he was employed as a chef – his true passion.
A kind and generous person, David would give anyone the shirt off his back. He loved to socialize with friends, cook, and tend to his annual vegetable garden. He was also an avid fan of the New York Knicks, Mets, Notre Dame, and the Dallas Cowboys. Above all, David was a loving family man and a faithful friend who will be missed beyond measure.
In addition to his parents, and wife, David was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Bob and Dorothy Thomas; and his sisters, Barbara Ann, Carrie, and Irene Belton.
David is survived by his two children, David Rashid Belton, Hollywood, Florida; Aneesah Belton, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his step-children, Nina Williams and her husband, Shawn, Kingston; and Rowena Russo and her husband, Anthony, New York; his five grandchildren, Essence, Sabrina, Andre, Jamere, and Aden; his four step-grandchildren, Erika, Allyson, Toni, and Andrew; his step-great-granddaughter, Evelina; his brothers and sisters, James Belton, North Carolina; Eugene Belton and George Belton, both of New Jersey; Bernice Belton, Florida; Bessie Belton, Rachel Belton, Stephanie Thomas, Anita McMillion, Shakira and Natiah Thomas, all of New Jersey; his friend and companion, Maria Velikis, Swoyersville; numerous of the nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and faithful companion, his dog, Star.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visitation which will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort. A memorial service will commence at 2:00 PM with Monsignor John J. Sempa, Pastor of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston, officiating.
