Daniel J. Capwell, 79, a resident of Taylor, passed into eternal life on Sunday evening, May 17, 2026, at Regional Hospital of Scranton, surrounded by his loved ones.

His beloved wife of nearly 25 years was the late Barbara R. Kilvitis Capwell who passed away on February 27, 1990.

Born on November 15, 1946, in Scranton, Daniel was one of two children born to the late Daniel Capwell and Gladys Owens Capwell.

Raised in Scranton, Daniel was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1966.

A United States Air Force veteran, Daniel honorably served his country for 4 years during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge on August 04, 1970, he attained the rank of Airman 1^st Class.

Prior to his retirement, Daniel was employed for over 40 years by United Gilsonite Laboratories (UGL), Dunmore.

For some years, Daniel sat on the boards of both Taylor Little League and Taylor Lions Football.

Daniel had many enjoyments in life, particularly fishing, hunting, feeding the deer, and woodworking. Above all, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who each held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his parents, Daniel and Gladys, and his wife, Barbara, Daniel was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Capwell, who passed away on March 02, 2016; and his sister, Marcina Heim.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brian Capwell and his longtime partner, Jenefer, South Carolina; and Nicole Pica and her husband, Bryan, Taylor; his four grandchildren, Daniel Capwell III and his wife, Jessica; Riley, Jordan, and Alex Pica; his two great-grandchildren, Aiden Michael Pica and Brooks Daniel Capwell, with another great-grandson on the way; as well as his nieces, nephews, and friends.

Daniel’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Donald Preate Jr. and the entire staff at Regional Hospital of Scranton for their excellent care during his time of need.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Daniel’s services which will begin with viewing on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Daniel’s graveside in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, with Pastor Ginger Daubenhauser officiating. Services will conclude with Military Honors accorded by the United States Air Force.
