Her beloved husband and “love of her life” was the late Stanley P. Plewniak, who passed away on May 06, 2009, after 46 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on January 17, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, Connie was one of ten children born to the late William Tosline and Anna O’Donnell Tosline.
Raised in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, Connie attended the former Holy Saviour Grade School, Wilkes-Barre, and was an honors graduate of the former Saint Ann’s Academy, Class of 1957.
Connie and her husband, Stan, were the proprietors of Stan’s Café, Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, for over 40 years. Her genuine love for cooking led her to be famous for her delicious coleslaw and lobster recipes, and her great sense of humor and welcoming presence were warmly received by the many patrons they served over the years – she always made people laugh!
A devout Catholic, Connie was a longtime member of the former Saint Joseph’s Slovak Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she served as the assistant organist for 10 years. She then went on to become a member of the former Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Saint Mary the Immaculate Conception Church, Wilkes-Barre, holding membership with its choir. Most recently, she was a member of Saint Nicholas – Saint Mary’s Parish, Wilkes-Barre.
Connie was an active member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Branch 172, Wilkes-Barre; the Saint Ann’s Academy Alumni Association; a charter member of the Donegal Society of Greater Wilkes-Barre; and a board member of the Slovak Heritage Society of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to her parents, William and Anna Tosline, and her husband, Stanley, Connie was preceded in death by her four brothers, Joseph Tosline, James Tosline, William Tosline, and Leo Tosline; and three of her sisters, Roseann Casterline, Mary Tosline, and Joan McKeown.
Left to cherish her memory are her beautiful daughter, Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Ridilla, and son-in-law, Dr. Joseph Ridilla, who together lovingly cared for her through many illnesses over the years; the four brightest and shining stars of her life: her grandchildren, Joseph Ridilla, Julia Ridilla, and Jacob Ridilla, and her beautiful great-grandson, Mason Joseph Ridilla; her sisters, Carmelita Zarola and Ann Marie Deitrick; as well as her many loving nieces and nephews that Connie loved immensely, and her many friends that she made throughout the years.
Connie’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Patrick Kerrigan for the wonderful care he bestowed upon her over the years.
