Clyde R. Oster, 68, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away late Friday evening, December 02, 2016, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
His beloved wife was the late Maryann (Baron) Oster, who passed away on September 28, 2012. Together, Clyde and Maryann shared 38 years of marriage.
Born on January 24, 1948, in Warrior Run, Clyde was one of six children born to the late Peter and Hilda (Bath) Ostrofski.
Clyde was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, Class of 1965. Following high school, he went on to further his education at Wilkes College, where in 1970, he acquired his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.
For many years, Clyde worked for his wife’s family business, the former Baron’s Seafood, Swoyersville, eventually taking over full control of the business, serving as its president from 1979 until its closing in 1995. In 1997, he became employed as a Food Service Instructor for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at S.C.I. Retreat, Hunlock Creek, retiring from there in 2013. In his earlier years, he was employed as a Jewelry Buyer for Allied Stores in New York City, New York.
Clyde was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed camping and fishing. In his younger years, Clyde was a member of the Masonic Lodge, active in the Kingston Rotary, and a former director of the Irem Temple Clowns Unit. As an Eagle Scout, Clyde was active with the Boy Scouts of America, acting as an Assistant Scout Master for his son's Troop. Above all, his greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his loving family. He will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, Peter and Hilda Ostrofski, and his wife, Maryann, Clyde was preceded in death by his brother, William Ostrofski; and his sisters, Hilda Davis, Dena Beecham, and Jane Oster.
Clyde is survived by his son, Christopher Oster and his wife, Jessica Herzog, Langhorne, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Karen Weber and her husband, Matthew, of Alexandria, Virginia; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Weber; his brother, Peter Oster and his wife, Dorothy, Trucksville; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to gather for a Memorial Service on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Reverend Michael L. Stine, Pastor of Forty Fort United Methodist Church, officiating.
