Clement M. Asklar, 80, of Forty Fort, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at his home
Born on February 15, 1934, in West Wyoming, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Lacina) Asklar.
A United States Marine Corps veteran, Clem honorably served his country for a brief time during the Korean War. He received an early discharge to return home to help his family after his father was injured in a coal mining accident.
Prior to his retirement, Clem was employed for nearly 20 years as a foreman for Pride Mobility Products, Exeter. In his earlier years, Clem worked in the local coal mining industry and also worked for the former United Foundries Inc., Wyoming.
He was an extraordinary son, wonderful husband, great father and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Clem was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and gardener. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Clem is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Deloras (DaSilva) Asklar; his daughter, Wanda Andrews and her husband Joseph, Sr., Forty Fort; his grandson, Joseph Andrews Jr. and his wife Jamie, Laflin; his great-grandsons, Joseph Andrews III and Jonathan Andrews, both of Laflin; his brother, Fred Asklar, Wyoming; his sisters, Judith Chernowsky, of West Wyoming and Elaine Bell, of Wyomissing; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, West Wyoming.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, at the funeral home.
