Charlotte A. Romanowski, 77, a lifelong resident of Swoyersville, entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, February 14, 2016, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born on April 24, 1938, in Swoyersville, Charlotte was one of six children born to the late Stanley and Helen (Swaboski) Romanowski.
Charlotte was a graduate of the former Saint Mary’s School, Swoyersville, and attended the former Swoyersville High School.
Prior to her retirement, Charlotte was employed as a caregiver for Robbie Williams, of Swoyersville. Prior to that, she was employed for many years by the former United Pants Factory, Swoyersville, and for other dress factories in the local area.
A faithful Catholic, Charlotte was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, where she was active in decorating the altar for the annual May Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Additionally, she served as a cook for the late Father Edward V. Sokolowski. When Saint Mary’s Church consolidated with Holy Name of Jesus Church, becoming Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish, Charlotte cleaned both churches and was active in the parish’s Social Concerns Committee.
Following the closing of her church in 2012, Charlotte became a member of Saint Monica’s Roman Catholic Parish, West Wyoming.
Charlotte’s greatly enjoyed decorating her home for the all the holidays. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch and watching the children play baseball at the little league field across the street from her home.
In addition to her parents, Stanley and Helen Romanowski, Charlotte was preceded in death by her sisters, Florence Davies, and Frances Skiendziel, who passed away on February 6, 2016.
Charlotte is survived by her brother, Stanley Romanowski, Sinking Springs; her sisters, Alberta Kolojejchick and Mary Ann Romanowski, both of Swoyersville; and her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Charlotte’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 11:00 AM in Saint Monica’s Roman Catholic Parish, 363 West 8th Street, West Wyoming, with the Reverend Leo J. McKernan, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and Friends are invited to the viewing which will be on Saturday morning, from 10:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass, at Saint Monica’s Parish.
