Bruce P. Lazar, 68, a resident of Courtdale, fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday morning, June 23, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
His loving wife is Helen S. (Joseph) Lazar. Bruce and Helen celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on June 19th.
Born on December 29, 1949, in Kingston, Bruce was one of three children born to the late Peter and Madeline (Yalick) Lazar.
Raised in Courtdale, Bruce was a graduate of West Side Area Vocational Technical School, Class of 1967.
Bruce was the owner and operator of Lazar Fuel and Oil Co., Courtdale, a company that was started by his late father. Bruce took over full operation of the family business in 1997, retiring and selling the business in 2017. An entrepreneur at heart, he was also the owner and operator of Hurricane Car Wash, Courtdale Avenue, Courtdale.
A man of many enjoyments, Bruce especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, and planting his annual vegetable garden and canning his yearly harvest.
Bruce will be best remembered as a giving and compassionate man who freely gave out of the kindness of his heart without ever asking for anything in return. His presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Helen, Bruce is survived by his sisters, Deborah Harris and her husband, David, Courtdale; and Audrey Spencer, Courtdale; his nieces and nephews, Sabrina Harris, Christopher Harris, Jeffrey King MD, Sara Lanning, and Adam Spencer; his best friend and the brother he never had, Walter Gulitus, and his son, Alex Gulitus, who was like his own son.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by an Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 271 Tripp Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Gary Mensinger, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Parastas Services will be celebrated on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM, with the Reverend Gary Mensinger, officiating.
