Bertha Mae Brink, 94, formerly of Tunkhannock and Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 02, 2014.Her beloved husband was the late John J. Brink, who passed away on July 18, 1984. Together, John and Bertha shared nearly 45 years of marriage.Born on October 01, 1919, in Wyoming, Bertha was the daughter of the late Luther and Ethel (Knorr) Coolbaugh.Raised in Tunkhannock, Bertha attended Tunkhannock High School.Prior to her retirement, Bertha was employed for 25 years as a house supervisor for the North Jersey Training School, Totowa, New Jersey. Shortly after retiring, Bertha returned to her the North Jersey Training School to volunteer under their Grandmother Volunteer Program.Bertha returned to the Wilkes-Barre area some years ago and resided on Simpson Street in South Wilkes-Barre. During her years in Wilkes-Barre, she enjoyed spending time with her friends from the Wilkes-Barre Senior Citizens group.Always an active and vibrant woman, Bertha was an avid walker and flower gardener up until her mid 80’s.One of Bertha’s favorite pastimes was making homemade candy for holidays and special events. Her great-grandchildren affectionately called her “Grandma Candy.”Bertha was a loving and giving woman who dedicated her life to family. She will forever be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of God, and reunited with her family and friends who have gone before her.In addition to her parents, Luther and Ethel Coolbaugh, and her husband, John, Bertha was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kriselise Brink; her brothers, Luther, Olen and George Coolbaugh; her sisters, Elsie Buckingham, Ethel Coolbaugh and Maybelle Coolbaugh.Bertha is survived by her children, Amanda; Donna; John and his wife, Pat; Gary and his fiancé, Paula; and Mark; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her brothers, Gene and Russell Coolbaugh; her sister, Sarah Hartman; and many generations of nieces and nephews.Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Bertha’s Funeral Service which will be celebrated on Monday, September 08, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Reverend Dr. Philip T.
