Beatrice Skiengel, 91, a lifelong resident of Swoyersville, entered into eternal life peacefully in the company of her family on Friday afternoon, December 18, 2015.
Her loving husband is Walter V. Skiengel. Walter and Bea would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on March 09, 2016.
Born on June 12, 1924, in Swoyersville, Beatrice was one of ten children born to the late John and Beatrice (Labonisky) Buzitsky.
Bea was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1942.
Bea was a faithful Catholic and was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
A homemaker most of her life, Bea dedicated herself to tending to the daily needs of her home and family. An excellent cook and baker, Bea loved sharing her famous dishes and desserts with her loved ones. She was always trying to learn new recipes and cooking techniques, and often could be found watching the Food Network or reading one of her many cookbooks.
Bea was also a talented, self-taught seamstress. From clothing to draperies, Bea could take a piece of fabric and fashion it into something both beautiful and unique. Also, in her younger years, she was very talented at drawing.
Throughout their years together, Walter and Bea shared a mutual love for fishing, a love they passed on to their daughters and grandson. They enjoyed many Sunday outings fishing at various lakes and rivers.
Above all, Bea’s greatest love in life was for her family. She was proud to be a stay-at-home mother for her daughters, and when her grandson was born, she was eager to fill the role of being at stay-at-home grandmother! Her never-ending love and devotion for her family will never be forgotten.
In addition to her parents, John and Beatrice Buzitsky, Bea was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Joseph Buzitsky, and her sisters, Jennie Sparlow, Mary Sparlow, Frances Dziekan, Irene Vishnesky, Helen Wozniak, and Catherine Mesaros.
In addition to her husband, Walter, Bea is survived by her devoted daughters, Carol Budnovitch and her husband, George, Swoyersville, and Elaine Stanchak and her husband, Frank, Swoyersville; her beloved grandson, Edward Stanchak and his wife, Allison, West Wyoming; her adoring great-grandson, Robert Stanchak, West Wyoming.
Additionally, Bea is survived by her sister, Rachel Gaydos, Jenkins Township; her sisters-in-law, Alice Skiengel and Arlene Skiengel, both of Swoyersville, and Sister Cynthia Skiendziel O.S.F. and Sister Melita Skiendziel O.S.F., both of Saint Thomas Moore Convent, Allentown; as well as generations of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
At Beatrice’s request, a private family viewing and funeral service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
