Barbara J. Hanusin, 95, formerly of Kossack Street, Swoyersville, and a 20-year resident of Crestwood, Kentucky, fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday morning, March 05, 2025, in the comfort of her home.
Her beloved husband of 34 years was the late George Hanusin, who fell asleep in the Lord on May 27, 2001.
Born on July 24, 1929, in Swoyersville, Barbara was one of seven children born to the late Michael Shampack and Veronica Foris Shampack.
Raised in Swoyersville, Barbara was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1947.
Prior to her retirement, Barbara was employed as a seamstress for the former United Pants Factory, Swoyersville. She also worked for some years in the same capacity for the former FAD Manufacturing, Swoyersville.
Barbara was a faithful member of Saint Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Swoyersville, where she was actively involved with its former annual bazaar, and was a past member of its Mothers Club.

Barbara’s family was, by far, the center of her life. She relished every moment shared with her loved ones, most especially her grandchildren. Although her presence will be deeply missed, her beautiful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all her loved ones.
The family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Norton Cancer Institute, Louisville, Kentucky, and Hosparus of Kentucky for their compassionate care for Barbara during her time of need.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Veronica Shampack, and her husband, George, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Shampack, and most recently, Michael Shampack, who passed this January; and her sisters, Ellen Wolfran, Rita Tibus, and Lois Koval.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Marita Clark and her husband, Stephen, Crestwood, Kentucky; and Michael Hanusin and his wife, Jan, Gaithersburg, Maryland; her three grandchildren, Mariah Clark; Samantha Clark and her fiancé, Tristen Bare; and Matthew Clark; her sister, Faith Yurgatis, Sparta, New Jersey; as well as generations of nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
