Barbara Ann Williams Gubitose, 86, a resident of Laflin, passed into eternal life, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday evening, September 05, 2024, in the comfort of her home.
Her beloved husband was the late Frank J. Gubitose, who passed away on February 15, 2011. High school sweethearts, Frank and Barbara were married in 1959, three years into Frank’s four-year service with the United States Navy. Equally devoted to one another, they shared 51 years of a loving marriage.
Born on June 19, 1938, in Wilkes-Barre, Barbara was one of two children born to the late Thomas Reese Williams Sr. and Anna Yonkoski Williams.
Raised in Wilkes-Barre, Barbara was a graduate of the former GAR Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1956.
Barbara was a quintessential homemaker who lovingly tended to the daily needs of her family. Prior to her marriage to Frank, Barbara was employed as a teller and executive secretary for the former Franklin First Federal Bank, Wilkes-Barre.
A devout Catholic, Barbara had an unwavering faith, and was a longtime member of Saint John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
Barbara and Frank enjoyed traveling and were blessed to have been able to tour the world throughout their lives, taking their children and granddaughter on many of those adventures.
Barbara’s unconditional love for her family will be her lasting legacy. Truly proud of her role as wife, mother, and grandmother, her husband, son, daughter, and granddaughter brought her the greatest joy in life. Although her passing leaves an immeasurable void, there is joy in knowing she is happily reunited in Heaven with her husband, daughter, and all her loved ones who were awaiting her arrival there.
In addition to her parents, Thomas and Anna Williams, and husband, Frank, Barbara was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Diane Gubitose, who passed away on May 23, 1964; and her brother, Thomas R. Williams Jr.
Barbara will be greatly missed by her son, Glen Gubitose and his wife, Ann, Laflin; her daughter, Linda Gubitose, Laflin; and her only granddaughter, the brightest part of her life, Anna Marie Gubitose.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, the viewing and funeral service will be private for her immediate family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, with the Reverend Father Jackson Pinheiro, O.S.J., Assistant Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township.
The Gubitose Family entrusted Barbara’s funeral arrangements to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
