Barbara A. Cosloskey, 92, a resident of Luzerne, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 03, 2024, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Born on April 09, 1932, in Swoyersville, Barbara was one of seven children born to the late Sylvester Lewis and Agnes Coutts Lewis.
Raised in Swoyersville, Barbara attended the former Swoyersville High School, and also attended Empire Beauty School, Wilkes-Barre.
Throughout her life, Barbara was employed by the former Leslie Fay, Kingston; Eberhard Faber Pencil Company, Mountaintop; and last as a switchboard operator at the former Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
A woman of great faith, Barbara was a lifelong member of Stella Presbyterian Church, Forty Fort.
Barbara was exceptionally talented at crocheting, tatting, plastic canvas, and any other craft to which she put her hands. Winning 1st prize with every craft fair item she ever entered, Barbara donated her time and artwork to the Kingston Senior Citizens Center, where she provided craft classes for many years. Barbara was also known for her skill with completing crossword puzzles – a skill at which it seemed she was unbeatable!
In addition to her parents, Sylvester and Agnes Lewis, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved son, Private 1st Class Raymond M. DaSilva, U.S. Marine Corps, who was killed in action in Vietnam on May 08, 1968; her treasured sister, Elizabeth “Bette” Sentigar; her baby sister, Leona Lewis; and her brothers, Andrew Lewis (Rose), Thomas Lewis, Bryce Lewis, and Gerald Lewis.
Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her loving children: daughter, Barbara DaSilva, with whom she resided; and sons, Arthur Martin (Suz); Charles Martin (Nance); and Thomas Cosloskey (Jamie); her adoring grandchildren, Erika Nordheim (Scott), Jessica Martin, and Brandon Cosloskey; her sister-in-law, Helen Lewis; and her several caring nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, aides, and pastoral home visitors who provided such loving care to Barbara during the last several years.
