Anni M. Feterle, 91, a resident of Kingston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday evening, June 10, 2015, at her home.
Born on April 03, 1924, in Braunschweig, Germany, Anni was the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Martha (Strebe) Breitenstein.
In 1963, Anni embarked on a courageous journey to America, along with her dear friend, whom she referred to as her sister, Ruth, and Ruth’s four young daughters, Rose, Birgit, Andrea, and Petra.
When arriving in America, she met the late John Feterle, a Navy Veteran and Merchant Marine and they married.
Since Anni had no children of her own, Ruth’s daughters lovingly adopted her as their own Aunt and a second gramma to the next generation.
Known for her endless source of energy, she was still taking the bus, or her bicycle, into town to spend her days at her two favorite places, the Wilkes-Barre Senior Center and Boscov’s, up until the time she was 87 years old.
In her retirement, she spent many years volunteering at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Anni is survived by her sister, Ruth I. Guillory, with whom she resided; her nieces, Rose Hoyt and her husband Joseph; Birgit Bond and her husband Kevin; Andrea Kyle; Petra Plucenik and her husband John; and her many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service which will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 5:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday from 3:00 PM until the time of the memorial service, at the funeral home.
It gives the family great comfort in knowing that Anni had the assurance of eternal life in faith to The Lord Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers we would encourage a special act of kindness, make someone laugh, visit an elderly relative, give someone a hug…let your light shine.
A special Thank You to Heartland Hospice for their incredible care.
