Anne Marie Yeager, 78, a resident of Forty Fort, passed peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday evening, April 10, 2021, at the Hospice of Sacred Heart, Dunmore, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Her beloved husband was the late J. Douglas Yeager, who passed away on October 11, 2017, from the same cancer which Anne Marie battled. Together, Doug and Anne Marie shared 52 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on August 27, 1942, in Exeter, Anne was the daughter of the late Frank and Phyllis (Contessa) Marfisi. Her biological mother was the former Anna Marie Mack, who passed away the year Anne Marie was born.
Raised in Exeter, Anne Marie was a graduate of the former Exeter High School, Class of 1961, and after graduation, having the desire to work with children prior to raising her own, she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from College Misericordia in 1965. Upon graduation, Anne Marie fulfilled her wish and became a preschool and kindergarten teacher for several years before making the ultimate sacrifice to raise her four children as a stay-at-home mom, a priceless and rewarding decision.
Anne Marie loved to read; entertain at her home in Forty Fort; cook all things Italian (especially her famous Stromboli); and was extremely involved in her church, Saint Barbara’s Parish, Saint Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter, and the Catholic community at large. She also took great pride in her home in Forty Fort, where you could easily catch a glimpse of her gardening. She loved to plant flowers and decorate for every season and holiday. She also enjoyed dining out, going to the movies, and taking day trips. Anne Marie enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends. Her home has always been very welcoming, warm, and filled with love for all who entered. She always believed that God, her faith, and family come first above all.
The greatest legacy Anne Marie leaves behind is her adoring family. Anne Marie is survived by her children: Wendy Ferrara, Swoyersville; Stacey Hamstra and her husband, Steve, Forty Fort; Douglas Yeager and his wife, Jeanne, Columbus, Ohio; and David Yeager and his husband, Auric Kosdon, Los Angeles, California; her grandchildren, Amanda Gorel and her husband, Cody; Johnathan Ferrara and his wife, Julia; Noah Mark Yeager; and Amani and Beigia Kosdon-Yeager; her great-grandsons, Micah and Avery Gorel, Joel and Silas Ferrara, and a new great-grandson due in October; her two sisters, Jeanette Johnston, Wyoming; and Carol Marfisi, Wyoming; her dog, Bexley; as well as her many relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Anne Marie’s family wishes to extend their most heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Jefferson University Hospital, the Henry Cancer Center at Geisinger Medical Center, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the outstanding and compassionate care they bestowed upon Anne Marie during her time of need.
