Angelo J. Grasso, 79, a resident of the Carverton Heights section of Kingston Township, passed away into eternal life on Wednesday morning, January 09, 2013, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia.

His loving wife is Nancy (Klose) Grasso. Angelo and Nancy were united in marriage on April 25, 1959 in Saint Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre and together have shared 53 wonderful years.

Born on February 05, 1933 in Forty Fort, Angelo was the son of the late Joseph M. Grasso and Constance (DeVito) Grasso.

Raised in Forty Fort, Angelo was a graduate of the former Forty Fort High School, where he served as class president during his sophomore year and was a four year varsity wrestler.

Following high school, he went to further his education at Penn State University, where in 1955 he acquired his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Psychology. While at Penn State, he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Alpha Chapter, and served as the fraternity’s treasurer.

After college, Angelo served two years in the United States Navy and six years in the Navy Reserves. During his time of service, he was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island and served aboard the U.S.S. Daly Destroyer. Upon his honorable discharge in 1957, Angelo had attained the rank of 2^nd Class Petty Officer Yeoman.

Upon leaving the service, he entered the family business, United Pants Co., Inc., with factories in Swoyersville and Plymouth, where he held the positions of Human Resources Director, Production Manager and President until the company’s closing in 1986.

Angelo also taught courses in business management at Wilkes University and was later employed as General Plant Manager by State Manufacturing Company, New Philadelphia. Most recently, he was employed by Clearbrook Treatment Centers, where he served as Director of Materials.

A faithful Catholic, Angelo was a member of Saint Frances X. Cabrini Church, Carverton Heights.

Angelo participated in many civic organizations, including the Hanover Township Lions Club, the Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce and the West Side Jaycees, where he served as past president. Angelo was also a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America.

An avid golfer and dedicated Penn State Nittany Lions fan, Angelo also enjoyed his family to the fullest.

In addition to his parents, Joseph and Constance Grasso, Angelo was preceded in death by his sister, Angelina Gaiteri; his nephew, Ross Gaiteri; and numerous cousins.

Angelo and Nancy were blessed by three loving daughters and their families, Susan Whorley and her husband Dale, of Virginia; Connie Doyle and her husband Joseph, of Mountaintop; Molly Shane and her husband Greg, of Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Kendall Mitchem and her husband Billy; Taylor Whorley, Conor Doyle, Thomas (T.J.) Doyle, Ryan Doyle and Levi Shane; and his great-grandson, Shawn Mitchem.

In addition to his immediate family, Angelo is survived by one sister, Louise Stozenski and numerous nieces and nephews.   

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Monday, January 14, 2013, at 10:30 AM in Saint Frances X. Cabrini Church, 585 Mount Olivet Road, Carverton, with the Reverend Vincent Dang, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton.

Family and Friends are invited to call on Monday morning from 9:30 until the time of the Funeral Mass at Saint Frances X. Cabrini Church.
