Alicia D. Pyryt, 74, a resident of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed into eternal life unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon, May 18, 2023, at her home.
Born on May 27, 1948, in Kingston, Alicia was the youngest of six children born to the late Thomas and Mary Pyryt.
Raised on Kossack Street, Swoyersville, Alicia was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1966. Following high school, she went on to further her education at Penn State University, Main Campus, where, in 1970, she acquired her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.
Prior to her retirement, Alicia was employed as a Disability Claims Adjudicator for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Throughout her life, Alicia enjoyed to travel, visiting Europe, the Caribbean, and many places throughout the United States.
Above all, being surrounded by her family was Alicia’s greatest enjoyment in life – she treasured every moment she shared with her loved ones. Although her presence will be missed beyond measure, she will be fondly remembered as loving and devoted sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, Thomas and Mary Pyryt, Alicia was preceded in death by her brother, Frank J. Pyryt and his wife, Ann; her sister, Cecilia Chorey and her husband, George; and her brother-in-law, Frank Drost.
Left to cherish Alicia’s memory are her three sisters, Sophie Drost, Forty Fort; Marian Pyryt, New York, New York; and Evelyn McHugh and her husband, Anthony, Chardon, Ohio; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Alicia’s funeral service which will be celebrated on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Very Reverend Lucian Urbaniak, Pastor of Resurrection of Our Lord Polish National Catholic Church, Edwardsville, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Resurrection of Our Lord Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Lehman Township.
Family and friends are invited to attend Alicia’s viewing which will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at the funeral home.
