Alice Brek, 79, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 09, 2014, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Her loving husband is Daniel G. Brek, Sr. Together, Daniel and Alice celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on July 02, 2013.
Born on November 14, 1934, in Swoyersville, Alice was the daughter of the late William Sincavage, Sr. and Stella (Dziekan) Sincavage.
A homemaker most of her life, Alice tended to the daily needs of her home and family. In her later years, Alice greatly enjoyed working part-time at the former Roller King, Kingston.
Alice was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville. Prior to its closure, Alice was a member of Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville.
A woman of many enjoyments, Alice especially enjoyed cooking for her family, playing bingo and taking weekly rides to Tunkhannock with her husband.
Family was the center of Alice’s life and she cherished every moment she had with her loved ones. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, William and Stella Sincavage, Alice was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Sincavage, and her sister, Barbara Crake.
In addition to her husband, Daniel, Alice is survived by her son, Daniel G. Brek, Jr., Swoyersville; her daughter, Alice Marie Kilduff, Swoyersville; her brothers, William Sincavage, Jr. and Joseph Sincavage, both of Swoyersville; her uncle, Frank Jacien, Swoyersville; her brother-in-law, Albert Crake, Shavertown; her nieces, nephews and friends.
The Family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Edward Carey and staff; the doctors, nurses and staff at Medical Oncology Associates; and the nurses and staff at Celtic Healthcare Hospice for the gentle and compassionate care they bestowed upon Alice and her family.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday, February 14, 2014, at 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Anthony M. Urban, officiating.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
At Alice’s request, the viewing will be held privately for the immediate family members only.
