Albert Surgan, 86, a resident of Luzerne, and formerly of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.
His beloved wife of 64 years was the late Bernadine Jachimowicz Surgan, who passed away on May 03, 2023.
Born on July 21, 1939, in Wilkes-Barre, Albert was the youngest of six children born to the late Adolf Surgenevich and Mary Katchmar Surgenevich.
Residing in Swoyersville most of his life, he attended local schools there, and prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed subcontractor specializing as a floor covering installer – he truly loved to work.
A man of faith, Albert was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne.
Quiet and reserved, Albert would do anything for his family and friends, and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Adolf and Mary Surgenevich, and his wife, Bernadine, Albert was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Surgenevich and Frank Surgenevich; his sisters, Irene Belinka, Marcella Kotchik, and Pearl Stanishefski; and his son-in-law, Daniel Wallitsch.
Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Cheryl Wallitsch, Kingston; Lisa Romanelli, Hanover Township; and Lori Shatley and her husband, Scott, Nanticoke; his six grandchildren, Emily Wallitsch and her husband, John Michael; Adam Wallitsch; Jacob Shatley; Lauren Shatley; Christopher Romanelli; and Carly Romanelli; his great-grandson, Henry Michael-Wallitsch; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Albert’s wishes, funeral services followed by burial in Saint Mary the Annunciation Cemetery, Pringle, will be privately held for his immediate family.
Albert’s family entrusted his funeral arrangements to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
