Adam F. Mihalek, 85, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, December 21, 2014, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.His loving wife is Theresa J. (Levitsky) Mihalek. Together, Adam and Theresa celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on May 3rd.Born on May 24, 1929, in Swoyersville, Adam was the son of the late Adam J. Mihalek and Agnes (Stelma) Mihalek.Raised in Swoyersville, Adam was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1949.A United States Army Veteran, Adam honorably served his country for two years following World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, Adam attained the rank of Corporal.For many years, Adam and Theresa resided in Kenilworth, New Jersey, where they raised their family. The couple returned to their hometown of Swoyersville 25 years ago, where they enjoyed their retirement.Prior to his retirement in 1989, Adam was employed for 35 years as a machinist for Accurate Bushing Company, Inc., Garwood, New Jersey. In his earlier years, he was employed as a driver for the former United Pants Factory, Swoyersville.A faithful Catholic, Adam was a longtime member of the former Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, Adam became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.Adam was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Assumpta Council 3987, Luzerne, and was a 4th Degree member of the Our Lady of Czestochowa, Assembly 1928, Luzerne. Additionally, Adam held membership with the Swoyersville Senior Citizens.Some of Adam’s enjoyments in life were fishing, bowling, polka dancing, and tending to his vegetable garden. Above all, Adam’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with his loving family.In addition to his wife, Theresa, Adam is survived by his daughters Janet Mihalek, Nanticoke; Linda Blakesley and her husband, Kirk, Newark, New York; Karen Kiefer and her husband, Randy, Kenilworth, New Jersey; and Susann Silecchia and her husband, Rocco, Toms River, New Jersey; his grandchildren, Robert McConnell; Patrice Perez; Matthew and Melissa Kiefer; Terry and Kevin Blakesley; his great-grandchildren, Nelson, Angel and Isabella Perez; Crimson McConnell; and Madeline and Logan Kiefer; his brother, Joseph Mihalek and his wife, Fran, Bethlehem; his many nieces and nephews.Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at 9:00 AM, from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J.
