William R. Coniglio, 74, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday evening, May 29, 2016, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
His devoted wife is Joan (Romanoski) Coniglio. Together, Bill and Joan celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on May 15th.
Born on December 16, 1941, in Forty Fort, William was one of three children born to the late Joseph and Wanda (Andrzejewski) Coniglio.
Raised in Swoyersville, Bill was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1959.
Bill went on to further his education at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.
Following college, Bill served for some time in the United States Air Force Reserves during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, Bill was employed as the Business Manager for Children’s Service Center, Wilkes-Barre.
A faithful Catholic, Bill was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville. He was also a former 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Assumpta Council 3987, Luzerne.
Bill had a great appreciation for music and he loved dancing with his beloved wife to the oldies, most especially to the couple’s all-time favorite band, “The Poets”. Over the years, Bill and Joan enjoyed many trips going to see “The Poets” live in concerts, on cruises and at various festivals. Besides his love for music, Bill was an avid Lionel train enthusiast, and he loved spending time with his grandsons.
Family was the center of Bill’s life and he treasured every moment he had with his loving wife, children, grandchildren and extended family and friends. His presence will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Joseph and Wanda Coniglio, Bill was preceded in death by his nephew, Andrew Joseph Hutsko.
In addition to his wife, Joan, Bill is survived by his children, William Coniglio Jr., Swoyersville; Robert Coniglio, Centerville, Virginia; Corine Coniglio, Swoyersville; and Jill Coniglio-Kirk, Bloomfield Hill, Michigan; his grandchildren, Spencer Kirk, Ryan Kirk, and Seth Fedorco; his brother, Colonel Joseph G. Coniglio (USAF, Ret.) and his wife, Barbara, Parker, Colorado; his sister, Joan Hutsko, Harvey’s Lake; and his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Friday, June 03, 2016, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
