Theresa E. Washko, 75, a resident of Luzerne, passed into eternal life, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday evening, May 14, 2022, in the comfort of her home.
Her loving husband is John J. “Jack” Washko. Together, Jack and Theresa celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on November 22, 2021.
Born on June 12, 1946, in Ashley, Theresa was one of two daughters born to the late John Paul and Helen Marie (Killenski) Cybuck.
Theresa was a graduate of the former Marymount High School, Class of 1964.
A dedicated homemaker most of her life, Theresa was also employed over the years by the former Pioneer Manufacturing, Ashley; the former Pomeroy’s Department Store, Wilkes-Barre; and most recently by the Citizens Voice, Wilkes-Barre.
Theresa was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish, Luzerne.
A woman of many enjoyments, Theresa especially enjoyed going on family vacations to Ocean City, Maryland; working the daily crossword puzzles; and watching Wheel of Fortune, which she never missed an episode in 40 years. She was blessed to share a very close bond with her late mother, Helen, and together they enjoyed their shopping excursions and attending every church bazaar in the Wyoming Valley.
Throughout her life, Theresa always put the needs of others before her own, and the love she had for her family and friends was boundless. Whether it be a family gathering or a quiet day with her grandchildren, Theresa was happiest when she was with her loved ones. Although her presence will be missed beyond measure, she leaves behind a legacy of being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her husband, Jack, Theresa is survived by her three sons, Jack Washko, Luzerne; Jeff Washko and his wife, Valerie, Swoyersville; and Justin Washko, Luzerne; her four grandchildren, Brittney Washko, Kaitlind Reich, Jeffrey Washko Jr, and Shawnna Washko; her great-grandson, Ashton Mrozoski; her great-grandson to be born this August, Kian Torres; her sister, Mary Ann Nilon and her husband, William, Ashley; as well as her nieces and nephews.
Theresa’s family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nurses and staff from Compassionate Care Hospice for the excellent care they bestowed upon Theresa during her time of need.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, with the Reverend Jarrod Waugh, C.S.C., her Pastor, officiating.
