Paul Cebrick, 88, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, March 11, 2014, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
His loving wife is Mary (Konopka) Cebrick. Together, Paul and Mary celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on February 07, 2014.
Born on July 18, 1925, in Swoyersville, Paul was the son of the late Wasil and Anastasia (Hvaboska) Cebrick.
A lifelong resident of Swoyersville, Paul attended the former Swoyersville High School.
A United States Navy Veteran, Paul honorably served his country during World War II. During his time of service, he was decorated with the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. Upon his honorable discharge on April 21, 1946, he attained the rank of Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class.
Prior to his retirement, Paul was employed for many years as a foreman for the Atlas Chain and Cable Company, West Pittston.
Paul was a faithful member of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Swoyersville. Additionally, Paul held membership with the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.
A true family man, Paul was happiest when he was surrounded by his loved ones. He awalys held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Though his presence will be deeply missed, he will forever be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, Wasil and Anastasia Cebrick, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas, Charles, John, Michael and Stephen Cebrick; his sisters, Christine Staskiewicz, Anna Stesney, Mary Sobeck and Rose Stankiewicz.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Paul is survived by his children, Barry Cebrick and his wife Diane, of Larksville; Christine Konnick and her husband Robert, of Forty Fort; his grandchildren, Christopher Cebrick and his wife Jennifer; Cassandra Cebrick and her fiancé Will Febish; and Craig Cebrick and his fiancé Janel Suda; his great-grandchildren, Mason, Anthony, Matthew, Aiden and Addison; his brother, A. Henry Cebrick and his wife Dolores, of Swoyersville; his sister, Louise Stacy and her husband Edward, of Mountainside, New Jersey; and several generations of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by an Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 271 Tripp Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Gary Mensinger, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas, where Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, March 14, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Parastas Services will be privately celebrated on Friday evening for the immediate family members.
