Norma R. Romanowski, 80, a lifelong resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, July 09, 2016, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Her beloved husband was the late Fred J. Romanowski, who passed away on April 03, 2007. Fred and Norma were blessed to share 46 years of marriage.
Born on September 16, 1935, in Swoyersville, Norma was the daughter of the late Michael and Anastasia (Koshinski) Volack.
Norma was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1953, and went on to further her education at the Wyoming Seminary School of Business.
Prior to her retirement in 1992, Norma was employed for over 20 years as a clerk for the Luzerne County Prothonotary’s Office.
Norma was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Anastasia Volack, and her husband, Fred, Norma was preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Volack, and her brother, Edward Volack.
Norma is survived by her children, Michael Romanowski, Swoyersville, and Ann Lowery and her husband, David, West Wyoming; her sisters, Helen Licata, Swoyersville; Leona Romanowski, Sinking Spring; Martha Berti, Swoyersville; and Rita Monto, Jenkins Township; as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Norma’s family wishes to extend their special thanks to Dr. Bruce Saidman and his staff at Medical Oncology Associates, as well as the nurses and staff of Celtic Healthcare Hospice, for the outstanding and compassionate care they bestowed upon Norma during her time of need.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
