Mildred “Nan” Andreas, 94, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, July 14, 2016, at the Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre, where she was recently a guest.
Her beloved husband was the late Robert J. Andreas, who passed away on February 01, 1985. Together, Robert and Millie shared 38 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on February 12, 1922, in Wilkes-Barre, Mildred was one of six children born to the late Peter and Emma (Martin) Mengak.
Prior to her retirement, Millie was employed as a seamstress by the former Allan Manufacturing, Wilkes-Barre. In her earlier years, she worked for many other garment manufacturers throughout the Wyoming Valley. Millie held membership with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
A woman of great faith, Millie was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, where at one time she was a member of the church’s choir, and taught Sunday School.
Millie enjoyed many things in life, most especially, bowling, anything Elvis, trips to casinos, camping, and fishing. Above all, her greatest enjoyment in life was being surrounded by those she loved the most, her family! Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life, and she always held a special place in her heart for each one of them.
In addition to her parents, Peter and Emma Mengak, and her husband, Robert, Millie was preceded in death by her son, Robert D. Andreas; her granddaughter, Lori Ungate; her brothers, Peter, Michael and Edward Mengak; and her sister, Mary Mengak.
Millie is survived by her daughters, Emma Jane Germann and her husband, Hank, Albany, New York, and Roberta Makaravage and her husband, Robert, Wilkes-Barre Township; her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her sister, Eleanor “Sis” Blaker, Wilkes-Barre; as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend Millie’s viewing which will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
The funeral will be celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 10:00 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Reverend Peter Kuritz and Reverend Janell Wigen, Pastors of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, officiating.
Interment will follow in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
