Michael J. Leshanski, 65, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012, at Hospice Community Care, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, following a courageous battle with cancer.His loving wife is Jody (Kuzma) Leshanski. Together, Michael and Jody shared 43 years of marriage.Born on February 11, 1947 in Taylor, Michael was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Malosh) Leshanski.Michael was raised in Taylor and was a graduate of Riverside High School.A United States Marine Corps Veteran, Michael honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. During his time of service, he was decorated with the National Service Defense Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal with 1 star and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon his honorable discharge on April 19, 1968, Michael had attained the rank of Corporal.Prior to his retirement, Michael was employed for 32 years by the Citizens Voice, Wilkes-Barre. Following retirement, Michael became employed by Securitas Security, where he was currently working.A proud veteran, Michael was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 815, Georgetown and was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Anthracite Post 283, Kingston. Additionally, he was a member of the North End Slovak Club.In addition to his wife, Jody, Michael is also survived by his daughters, Linda Howell and her husband Jason, of Trucksville; Susan Lewis and her husband Wayne, of Falls; Marcie Leshanski; his grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob and Emily; his brother, George Leshanski and his wife Kris, of Saylorsburg; his sisters, Elizabeth Chase and her husband Ellsworth, of Mechanicsburg; Mary Ann Sucheski and her late husband Leonard, of Penfield, New York; several nieces and nephews.Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 8:15 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by an Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 9:00 AM in Saint Mary of the Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, 695 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Very Reverend James G. Hayer, Pastor, officiating.Cremation will follow at the Sunlight Crematory of Wilkes-Barre, Hanover Township.Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, December 21, 2012, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.Parastas will be held on Friday at 4:00 PM with the Very Reverend James G.
