Michael D. Sovan, 60, a resident of Kingston, passed into eternal life unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, May 18, 2024, at his home.
Born on January 21, 1964, in Somerville, New Jersey, Michael was the son of Sarah A. Gilroy Sovan, Swoyersville, and the late Michael N. Sovan.
Raised in Wilkes-Barre, Michael was a graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1983.
Enlisting in the United States Marine Corps after high school, Michael honorably served his country during peacetime.
Prior to his retirement in 2012, Michael was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
A man of many enjoyments, Michael was an avid sports enthusiast who especially enjoyed playing pool. Above all, his greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his beloved family.
Michael was well dressed, always looking handsome and debonaire. A true gentleman, he always made those around him feel comfortable and at ease, treating everyone as if he knew them his whole life. He possessed a good soul which was evident by the way he treated people and how he always lightened the room, and his charisma made people love being in his company. He was essentially an optimist, as he never gave up. His family will forever cherish the beautiful memories they have of him.
In addition to his mother, Sarah and her companion, David Ash, Michael is survived by his six siblings, Susan Barrett and her husband, John, Bradenton, Florida; Stephen Sovan, Wilkes-Barre; Kimberly Moreno and her husband, John, El Paso, Texas; Kevin Sovan and his wife, Pamela, Liverpool, New York; Thomas Sovan, Harrisburg; and Eric Sovan, Kingston; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be dearly missed by his best friend, Bernard Balutis, and his cat, Mia.
A private visitation and blessing service will be held for the immediate family. Deacon John F. Bankus, Permanent Deacon of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, will officiate.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
