Maryann Yurko, 77, a lifelong resident of Swoyersville, fell asleep in the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday evening, February 06, 2026, in the comfort of her home.
Her loving husband is Richard R. Yurko. Together, Richard and Maryann celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on July 18, 2025.
Born on March 20, 1948, in Kingston, Maryann was one of three children born to the late Andrew Barilla Sr. and Margaret Drugotch Barilla.
Maryann was a member of the last graduating class of the former Swoyersville High School in 1966 and went on to further her education at Empire Beauty School, Wilkes-Barre, where, in 1967, she received her cosmetology certification.
Prior to her retirement, Maryann operated a beauty parlor from her home for over 40 years.
Maryann was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Swoyersville.
A woman of many enjoyments, Maryann was known for her love of Penn State and was a football season ticket holder for 23 years. She took great pride in her home, finding joy tending to her flower garden, doing yard work, and ensuring her home was meticulous both inside and out. She also loved beach vacations, especially trips with her family to the Caribbean and Ocean City, Maryland.
Maryann was truly the heart of her family. As a wife, Maryann was the love of Richard’s life – his best friend, partner, soulmate, rock, and the greatest thing that ever happened in his life. As a mother and grandmother, she was nothing but the best. She loved watching her daughters, Kyra and Krisa, and grandson, Jacob, blossom into who they are today – they were truly her pride and joy.
In addition to her parents, Andrew and Margaret Barilla, Maryann was preceded in death by her brother, Magistrate Andrew Barilla Jr.; her sister-in-law, MaryAnn Charnetski Barilla; and her niece, Lisa Barilla.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard, and their two daughters, Kyra Yurko and son-in-law, Chris Botek, Lehighton; and Krisa Yurko, Swoyersville; her grandson, Jacob Botek; her brother, John Barilla and his wife, Jeanne, Swoyersville; as well as her many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
