Jean M. Mooney, a resident of Kingston, passed into eternal life on Saturday afternoon, August 23, 2025, at the age of 92.
Her beloved husband of 27 years was the late Frank J. Mooney, who passed away on October 27, 1989.
Born on January 02, 1933, in Wilkes- Barre, Jean was one of two daughters born to the late Jacob Trybulski and Mary Yurchisin Trybulski.
Raised in Wilkes-Barre Township, Jean was a graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre Township High School, Class of 1950.
After working for the Bell Telephone Company, the Credit Bureau, and Bond Clothing, Jean became employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Diocese of Scranton. Her career with the Diocese spanned 42 years, with most of those years being spent at the former Bishop O’Reilly High School, Kingston. Following the closure of Bishop O’Reilly, she finished out her career at Holy Redeemer High School, Wilkes-Barre, retiring at the age of 82.
Truly embodying the “spirit of Bishop O’Reilly,” she coached cheerleading and soccer, as well as volunteering at countless school events. An enthusiastic fan of all of the sporting programs at the school, one would always find Mrs. Mooney cheering on the players at the basketball, soccer and football games. Everyone knew Mrs. Mooney and she still remembered the names of every graduate to this day. With her magnetic personality and beautiful way of making everyone laugh and smile, she became fast friends with all who passed through the halls of Bishop O’Reilly.
Jean was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Church, Kingston. She was also a member of the Blue and Gold Mothers Club of Bishop O’Reilly High School, and volunteered with Dinners for Kids.
Having countless enjoyments in life, Jean especially enjoyed watching sporting events, as well as trying her luck and winning regularly at the casino!
Renowned for her elegant style and always being impeccably dressed, Jean will be best remembered for the love and devotion she showered upon her family. She truly reveled in every moment she shared with her loved ones, most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jacob and Mary Trybulski, and her husband, Frank, Jean was preceded in death by her only sister, Maryann Allen.
