Irene S. Delescavage, 87, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, July 10, 2013, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Her loving husband is John J. Delescavage, Sr. Together, John and Irene would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on July 26th.
Born on June 10, 1926, in Swoyersville, Irene was the daughter of the late Anthony and Antonita (Kutowski) Raiewski.
Prior to her retirement, Irene was employed by the former Gruen Marketing, West Pittston. In her earlier years, Irene was employed by the former Duplin Silk Mill, Kingston and also by the former French Steak Company, Swoyersville.
A devout Catholic, Irene was a past member of the former Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish Community, Swoyersville, where she once held membership with the parish’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
Following the consolidation of her church, Irene became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.
Family was the center of Irene’s life and she cherished every moment she had with her loved ones. Her presence will be deeply missed but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Anthony and Antonita Raiewski, Irene was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Walter, Chester and Joseph Raiewski; her sisters, Stella Hodgeboon and Violet Jadosh.
In addition to her husband, John Sr., Irene is survived by her son, John J. Delescavage, Jr. and his companion Mary Croft, of Harrisburg; her granddaughter, Samantha; her sister, Dorothy Yescavage, of Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, July 15, 2013, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Sunday, July 14, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
