Irene Kaschak, 88, a resident of Pringle, entered into eternal life on Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2024, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Born on March 16, 1936, in Larksville, Irene was the daughter of the late Albert Kaschak and Susan Matas Kaschak.
Irene received her early education under the direction of the Sisters of Saint Cyril and Methodius, Danville. She entered the Sisters of Saint Cyril and Methodius, making her profession of vows in August of 1956. She went on to attain her bachelor of arts degree from Marywood College, now Marywood University, Scranton, and her master of arts degree as a reading specialist from the former Cardinal Stritch College, Wisconsin.
Irene began her career as a primary grade school teacher, teaching for the Diocese of Scranton at the former Saint John’s School, Pittston, and serving as a principal for the Archdiocese of New York.
Eventually returning home, Irene went on to work for the Social Security Administration, Wilkes-Barre, retiring from there.
Irene was a past member of the former Saint Anthony’s Church, Larksville. Following the closing of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. Irene was also a member and officer of the Slovak Catholic Sokol, Wreath 147, Larksville.
In addition to her parents, Albert and Susan Kaschak, Irene was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Maximowicz, Helen Kuchta, and Mary Yencha; her brother, Michael Kaschak; her nephews, Ted Maximowicz and Robert Maximowicz; and her niece, Elizabeth Kuchta Fessler.
Irene is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, July 06, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville. A Memorial Mass will commence at 10:30 AM with the Reverend Father John J. Chmil, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Anthony’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Courtdale.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
