Frederick P. Villella, Jr., a longtime resident of Carbondale and currently a resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, December 11, 2013, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
His beloved wife was the late Jessie A. Villella. Together, Fred and Jessie shared over forty years of marriage.
Born in Archbald, Fred was the son of the late Frederick P. Villella, Sr. and Lena Villella.
A United States Army Veteran, Fred honorably served his country as a courier during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, Fred was employed for many years as a cheese maker for Falbo Dairy Products, Carbondale.
A faithful Catholic, Fred was a past member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Carbondale.
Many will remember Fred for his harmonious singing voice and his great love of music.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Fred was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Frank, James, Edward and Leonard Villella; his sister, Eleanor Preshutti.
Fred is survived by his children, Joseph Villella, of Wilkes-Barre, who was his devoted caregiver; Donna Villella-Drevet and her husband Dominique, of Brooklyn, New York; Frederick P. Villella, III, of Scranton; his “adopted son”, Ed Snitko, of Wilkes-Barre; his four grandchildren, Jennifer and Sarah Villella and Daniel and Julian Drevet; his brother, Bill Villella and his wife Lois, of Jermyn; numerous nieces and nephews.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, December 16, 2013, in Queen of Angels Parish at Saint Michael’s Church, Jessup, with the Reverend Gerard McGlone, officiating.
Entombment followed in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
