Frank Sova, 94, a resident of Swoyersville, and most recently a guest at Allied Services Meade Street Assisted Living Center, Wilkes-Barre, passed into eternal life on Monday evening, August 07, 2023, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
His beloved wife was the late Thelma Bankovich Sova, who passed away on August 24, 2004. Together, Frank and Thelma were blessed to share nearly 49 years of marriage.
Born on November 05, 1928, in Wyoming, Frank was one of eight children born to the late Jacob Sova and Constance Dziubacki Sova. His seven siblings, Sophie, Josephine, Helen, Marion, John, Stephen, and Joseph, all preceded him in death.
Raised in Wyoming, Frank attended the former Wyoming High School.
A United States Army veteran, Frank honorably served his country during World War II, from 1945 to 1947, attaining the rank of Corporal.
Prior to his retirement, Frank was employed as a supervisor for CertainTeed, Mountaintop.
Frank was a member of Saint Monica’s Parish, West Wyoming, and, prior to its closure, he was a lifelong member of the former Saint Joseph’s Church, Wyoming. Additionally, he was a member of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.
Frank is survived by his two sons, Frank Sova Jr., Swoyersville; and Paul Sova and his wife, Lisa, Archbald; his two grandsons, Paul Sova II and Zakary Sova; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
For the exceptional care Frank received, the family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Allied Services Meade Street Assisted Living, Fresenius Kidney Care, and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, most especially Dr. Joseph Radzwilka and Dr. Joseph Dreier.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Frank’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10:30 AM, in Saint Monica’s Parish, 363 West 8th Street, West Wyoming, with the Reverend Father Joseph J. Pisaneschi, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, West Wyoming, where Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army.
In keeping with Frank’s wishes, the viewing will be private for his immediate family.
