Delores J. “Dee” Albert, 85, a resident at Highland Park Senior Living, Wilkes-Barre Township, and formerly of the North End section of Wilkes-Barre and Dallas, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 03, 2021, at her residence.
Her loving husband was the late Edward Joseph Albert who passed away on August 21, 2008. Edward and Delores were blessed to share 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on March 28, 1936, in Shickshinny, Delores was one of three children born to the late Carl L. and Jennie N. (Vorbleski) Kadtke.
Delores was a graduate of the former Shickshinny High School, Class of 1954, where she was a member of her high school’s photography, music, and leadership clubs.
From a young age, Delores had a great love for dancing, and, in her earlier years, she was a professional dance instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Academy in New York City.
An ardent supporter of the American Cancer Society, Delores wanted to do more on the local level, leading her to become a founding member of the “Spark of Life” cancer organization, holding many posts within the organization over the years.
Family meant everything to Delores, and in return, she meant everything to her family! She was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Edward and Deidre, and she ensured they were the best they could be and, as children and young adults, she would often be seen tutoring them in their subjects. A doting grandmother to her grandsons, Jarret and Jeffrey, she shared with them her passion for storytelling and cooking, and her grandsons thought her chicken fingers were legendary! A caring mother-in-law, she enjoyed spending time and sharing stories with her daughter-in-law, Kim. A loving sister, she held a special bond with her sister, Joan, and it was known in the family that they were two peas in a pod and that they shared many of the same interests, most especially their favorite pastime, going to the casino.
In addition to her parents, Carl and Jennie Kadtke, and her husband, Edward, Delores was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Deidre A. Phillips, who passed away on March 19, 2017; her son-in-law, Reggie L. Phillips; her brother, Carl F. Kadtke; her brother-in-law, Harold Heintzelman; and her nephew, Brian Von Kadtke.
Delores is survived by her son, Edward J. “E.J.” Albert II and his wife, Kimberly, Hanover Township; her grandsons, Jarret J. Albert and Jeffrey J. Albert, both of Hanover Township; her sister, Joan M. Heintzelman, Neffs; her nephew, Carl Von Kadtke, Wilkes-Barre; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews from the Albert family.
The Albert Family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nurses and staff from both Highland Park Senior Living and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the gentle and compassionate care they bestowed upon Delores during her time of need.
