David A. Dzurek, 53, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, January 14, 2013, at his residence.
Born on November 30, 1959 in Swoyersville, David was the son of the late John Dzurek, Sr. and Rita (Boback) Dzurek.
Raised in Swoyersville, David attended the former Holy Trinity Grade School, Swoyersville and was a graduate of West Side Area Vo-Tech, Pringle.
David began working as a teenager in his family’s business and then moved on to working for the former Sunshine Markets. Later, he was employed at the Cross Dock for the Office Depot, Mountaintop, until his disabilities left him unable to work.
A man of faith, David was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. Additionally, he was a Third-Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Assumpta Council 3987, Luzerne, where he was involved with the Singing Knights.
David had a great love for the outdoors and took great enjoyment in hiking, hunting, fishing and of course, golfing when he was able.
In addition to his parents, John Dzurek, Sr. and Rita Dzurek, David was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Muller, who passed away on December 25, 2012.
David is survived by his brothers, John Dzurek, Jr. and his wife Jackie, of Swoyersville; and Gerald Dzurek and his wife Alana, of California; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
The members of the Knights of Columbus, Assumpta Council 3987 will recite the Rosary on Friday evening at 6:30 PM, at the funeral home.
