Celia E. Rydzewski, 88, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Tuesday evening, October 04, 2022, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born on November 20, 1933, in Swoyersville, Celia was the daughter of the late Stanley Rydzewski and Mary V. Butkiewicz Stukoski Rydzewski.
Residing in Swoyersville all her life, Celia was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1951.
Prior to her retirement, Celia was employed as a medical secretary for Charles S. DeBonis, M.D., at his family practice in Forty Fort. In her earlier years, she was employed as a seamstress by the former Laros Manufacturing Company, Kingston.
A devout Catholic, if Celia was not able to attend daily Mass in person, she made sure to watch it on EWTN. A lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, Celia became a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, following its closing.
Celia enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy daily, as well as occasional trips to try her luck at the casino. A loving and devoted sister, aunt, and cousin, her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her beloved family! Although her presence will be greatly missed, there is much joy in knowing she is now safe in Heaven, basking in the glory of her Lord and Savior alongside all her loved ones who have gone before her.
In addition to her parents, Stanley and Mary Rydzewski, Celia was preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent Stukoski and Bernard Rydzewski; and her sister, Mary “Monch” Stukoski.
Celia is survived by her brothers, Theodore Rydzewski, Swoyersville; and Robert Rydzewski, Wyoming; her dear friend, Geraldine Mansfield; as well as generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 9:45 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:15 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
