Bertha Drooby Aed, 91, a resident of The Village at Greenbriar, Dallas, and a 73 year resident of Washington D.C., fell asleep in the Lord on Monday morning, June 27, 2016, at her home.
Her beloved husband was the late Mitchell F. Aed, who fell asleep in the Lord on November 13, 1994. Mitchell and Bertha were blessed to share 51 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on March 17, 1925, in Geneva, New York, Bertha was one of seven children born to the late George and Eva (Atalla) Drooby. Bertha was raised in Geneva, New York, where she received her grade school and high school education.
Following her marriage to Mitchell in 1943, the couple settled in the Friendship Heights section of Washington D.C., where they raised their sons, Michael and George. For over 30 years, Bertha was employed as an executive secretary in the advertising industry in Washington D.C.
A woman of great faith, Bertha was a longtime member of Ss. Peter and Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church, Potomac, Maryland.
In addition to her parents, George and Eva Drooby, Bertha was preceded in death by her brothers Moses, Leo and John; her sisters, Anne, Mary and Sophie.
Bertha is survived by her sons, Michael Aed and his wife, Ann Marie, Forty Fort; and George Aed, Chicago, Illinois; her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; generations of nieces and nephews; and her very close friends.
The Aed Family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at The Village at Greenbriar, as well as the nurses from Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care they bestowed upon Bertha during her time of need.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Bertha’s funeral service which will be celebrated on Saturday, July 02, 2016, at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Very Reverend David Hester, Pastor, officiating.
Those who will be attending the funeral service are kindly asked to assemble directly at the church on Saturday morning.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, July 01, 2016, from 5:00 to7:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, and again on Saturday morning, July 02, 2016, from 9:30 to 10:00 AM, at Saint Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church.
