Bernadine S. Latoski, 83, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Saturday afternoon, November 14, 2020, at Mountain Top Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a guest for the past week.
Her beloved husband was the late Robert T. “Bob” Latoski, who passed away on May 26, 2020. Bob and Bernadine were blessed to share 61 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on July 21, 1937, in Swoyersville, Bernadine was one of four children born to the late Joseph and Stella (Gostynski) Gowisnok.
Raised in Swoyersville, Bernadine was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1955.
A devoted homemaker most of her life, Bernadine lovingly tended to the daily needs of her family. In her early years, she worked at the former Leslie Fay, Kingston, where she met her husband. After her children were raised, she went on to work for Kings Department Store, and later, Jamesway Department Store, both formerly of Luzerne. She eventually stopped working and began babysitting her grandchildren, and she truly loved those “babysitting” years!
Bernadine was faithful Catholic, and a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. As her children were growing up, she was actively involved with their school’s Parent-Teachers Association, and the Swoyersville Little League.
Bernadine was known for her annual Christmas cookies; how you never left her home with an empty stomach; and for her love of the color purple. She also enjoyed taking family trips to Canada; visiting Las Vegas with her friends; and watching the Hallmark Channel and the New York Yankees play.
Family was always the center of Bernadine’s life. She treasured every moment she had with her loved ones, and she never missed an event that her children and grandchildren were involved with. She will forever be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Although her presence will be greatly missed, there is much joy in knowing that she is reunited in Heaven with her husband and all her loved ones who have gone before her.
Bernadine is survived by her four children, Deborah Snyder and her husband, Curt, Mountain Top; Robert Latoski, Swoyersville; David Latoski and his companion, Renee, Swoyersville; and Edward Latoski and his wife, Cathy, Exeter; her seven grandchildren, Zachary Snyder and his wife, Samantha; Christian Snyder; Amanda Latoski; Kristopher Latoski; Eric Latoski; Emily Latoski; and Ryan Latoski; her four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Chase, Ava, and Colson Snyder; her brother, Joseph Gowisnok and his wife, Mary Ann, Omaha, Nebraska; her sisters, Mary Ann Hanadel and her husband, John, Nanticoke; and Nancy Ann Glomb and her husband, Stanley, Richmond, Virginia; as well as her nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Latoski Family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of both Mountain Top Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and Compassionate Care Hospice, for helping make Bernadine’s final days peaceful and comfortable.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Friday, November 20, 2020, at 10:00 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, with the Reverend Jarrod Waugh, C.S.C., her Pastor, officiating.
