Barbara A. Wolinsky, 66, a resident of Kingston, passed into eternal life on Tuesday morning, January 10, 2023, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following an unexpected illness.
Her loving husband is Charles R. Wolinsky. Sweethearts since high school, Chuck and Barb were blessed to celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary on August 21, 2022.
Born on November 19, 1956, in Kingston, Barbara was one of three children born to the late Pierce N. Whipple and Alberta B. Moore Whipple. Within her family, she had the distinction of being the first daughter born into the Whipple Family in 100 years.
Raised in Kingston and residing there most of her life, Barb was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1974.
Prior to her retirement, Barb was employed for 20 years as a billing specialist for Highmark Blue Cross, Wilkes-Barre. In her earlier years, she was employed as a bank teller for the former Susquehanna Savings, Wilkes-Barre Township; the former First Peoples National Bank, Edwardsville; and PNC Bank, Edwardsville.
A woman of great faith, Barb was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston, where, in her earlier years, she was an active volunteer with the church’s annual vacation bible school.
Barb was a quiet, modest woman who was known for her kindness, caring nature, and abounding generosity. An avid reader, she never hesitated at the opportunity to curl up with one of her many books.
Above all, Barb’s greatest legacy will be the love and devotion she had for her husband, children, and grandchildren – she was, without a doubt, the best wife, mom, and grandma anyone could ask for! Although her presence will be deeply missed, there is joy in knowing that she is now safely home in Heaven, basking in the glory of her Lord and Savior with her parents, her brother, and all her loved ones who were patiently waiting for her there.
In addition to her parents, Pierce and Alberta Whipple, Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Curtis Whipple.
Left to cherish Barb’s memory are her husband, Chuck; her two children, Jessica Alandar and her husband, Kurt, New Cumberland; and Joshua Wolinsky and his wife, Erin, Swoyersville; her two grandchildren, Olivia and Addisyn Alandar, both of New Cumberland; her brother, Dale Whipple and his wife, Marlene, Kingston; her sister-in-law, Elaine Whipple, Courtdale; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Wolinsky Family; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Barb’s viewing which will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
Funeral services will begin with a second viewing on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 9:15 to 10:00 AM, in the narthex of the Church of Christ Uniting, 190 South Sprague Avenue, Kingston, with her Funeral Service to commence at 10:00 AM in the main sanctuary of the church. The Reverend Jane M. Pykus, her Pastor, will officiate the service.
Family and friends are asked to assemble directly at the church on Saturday morning as there will be no procession from the funeral home.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Burial Park, Harding.
